Kaja Włostowska was born on 22nd November 2000 in Warsaw, Poland. She began to study percussion instruments at the very young age of sevenShe discovered her passion for marimba, which soon became her favorite instrument.

Kaja completed the primary school with a special award for her achievements in 2013. In the same year she came to Stuttgart, Germany to continue studying percussion instruments.

Since then she attends the Eberhard-Ludwigs-Gymnasium; the best high school for musically skilled students in Stuttgart.

Kaja was also a student of the Public Music School in Stuttgart (Stuttgarter Musikschule)as a member of Gergely Nagy´s percussion class till she started her youth studies at the Music Conservatory in Stuttgart (Musikhochschule Stuttgart) with Prof. Marta Klimasara and Prof. Jürgen Spitschka. 

In 2015 she received a special grant of Dr. Klaus Lang Foundation for especially performance-oriented students.

 

Kaja performs currently solo, as well as a member of an ensemble or an orchestra.

Her concerts take place in the most famous concert halls around Europe.

 

Kaja has already played two concerts for marimba solo and orchestra

2014: Ney Rosauros 1st Marimba Concerto with the Chamber Orchestra of Stuttgart

2017: 1st Marimba Concerto by Ching Cheng Lin with the Youth Symphony Orchestra of Stuttgart

 

Kaja travels to various countries to exchange and gather experiences. She gets many invitations for various workshops, academies and concerts all over the worldShe has already played with the best percussionists: Keiko Abe, N. J. Živković, Tchiki Duo, Jean Geoffroy.

2014 - 1st prize at the International Marimba Competition „Marimba Festiva“ in Bamberg, Germany - marimba solo

2015 - 1st prize and the Special Award in the „Percussion Ensemble“ category at the National Competition „Jugend Musiziert“ in Hamburg,        Germany - percussion quartet 

2016 - 1st prize and the Special Award in the „Mallets“ category at the National Competition „Jugend Musiziert“ in Kassel, Germany - marimba solo

2016 - 1st prize at the International Percussion Competition „Drum Fest 2016“ in Opole, Poland - marimba solo

2016 - 1st prize and the special Georges Karmeyer Prize at the International Music Competition in Luxembourg - percussion solo 

2018 - 2nd prize at the International Marimba Competition "Marimba Festiva" in Bamberg, Germany - marimba solo
